ACADEMIC RESULTS & ALUMNI

British School of Vila-real offers the British National Curriculum from 2 to 18 years old combined with subjects from the Spanish curriculum, leading to a double certification (British and Spanish), through the IGCSE exams in Secondary and A-Levels and Tests of Specific Competences in the Spanish Baccalaureate.

The results of the A-Levels are always excellent and above the UK average, obtaining in some cases the highest marks in the world and in Spain in the exams taken at Cambridge and Edexcel examination centres.

This stage is the one that best distinguishes us, as no other school in the Castellón region offers this programme at this stage. Our students specialise by choosing the subjects they are most interested in according to their university aspirations, allowing them to have a personalised academic programme with the flexibility provided by the British National Curriculum. When students leave British School of Vila-real they are prepared to live in an ever-changing society and become “global professionals”.

OUR ALUMNI PROGRAMME

At British School of Vila-real, we are a family who look after each other from our first day of school, until long after we leave at the end of Year 13. Our close community aims to support our students as they go on to university and into the world of work. The BSV Family Network helps to put our current Sixth Form students in contact with former students who are now at universities to which our students may be interested in applying. It also puts them in contact with current and former BSV parents, whose expertise in different job sectors and advice on the next steps to take, can prove invaluable to our students as they embark on their careers.

UNIVERSITIES

The Universities section of the website is designed for those interested in getting in contact with a former LAUDE BSV pupil who is currently studying, or who has studied, at a university they are interested in applying to. You will find a list of universities from all around the world, and under each university, you will find the names and email addresses of those former LAUDE BSV pupils who have attended, or still attend, that university. You will then be able to contact the former pupil and ask for their advice on a range of issues. Below are some questions which may be useful to ask.

  • Do/Did you enjoy the course?

  • Is there any accommodation you would recommend?

  • Do you have any tips for my application?

  • Are there extracurricular opportunities at the university?

  • Does the university help with career advice?

  • What’s the city like?

  • Is there anything you wish you knew when you applied?

Universities in the UK

The UK is one of the world’s most popular destinations to study higher education, with more than 500,000 international students enrolling each year. UK universities are among the best in the world, and consistently perform well in world rankings. They also have a reputation for world-class research.

UK higher education degrees and qualifications are recognised by employers and academics worldwide. Students get the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, critical thinking, and connections to drive forward their careers.

Going to university in the UK is a great way to expand your knowledge, meet new people, experience a new culture, and enjoy new experiences. You’ll get plenty of support at university, and a chance to experience a great student lifestyle. Whatever your interests, there’s a huge range of clubs and societies, as well as a diverse social life on offer.

Universities in Spain

Spain has a lot of things going for it: Great climate and nature, beautiful cities, tasty cuisine, friendly people. And: Many Spanish universities are among the best in Europe and the world.

Across the leading international rankings, you will usually find around a dozen Spanish universities in the world’s top 500, and dozens more in the world’s top 1,000. Many of the best-known institutions are concentrated in Spain’s two largest cities: Madrid and Barcelona. Beyond the traditional rankings, there are also many highly-ranked business schools in Spain.

Universities in the USA

The USA has a special allure and has always been drawing talented students like a magnet. Studying abroad in an American university will allow for invaluable academic, professional and personal growth, and open up an infinite number of career opportunities after graduation.
One of the main reasons why students choose to study in the U.S. is the country’s reputation for renowned higher-education programs. Approximately fifty percent of the world’s top 50 universities are located in the U.S., due to small class sizes, highly accredited professors, and advanced technology and research capabilities.

Universities in the Netherlands

The Netherlands offers international students a wide variety of degree courses, most of them available in English, and an international academic environment. These are just some of the reasons why the Netherlands has counted over 90,000 international students in the last two years, according to Nuffic (The Organisation of international education in Netherlands).

Dutch universities are known to be among the best universities in the world, competing with other famous UK and U.S. universities. Netherlands is one of the top non-English speaking countries where you can study abroad, get quality education and find loads of degrees taught in English.

JOBS

The Jobs section of the website is designed for those interested in getting some advice and help with their future career, whether they are planning on starting their career in the very near future, or in a few years time after university. You will find a list of different job sectors, and under each job sector, you will find the names and email addresses of current or former BSV parents who work in your chosen sector, along with their job title. If you click on their name, you will be able to read a short Q&A with them in which they give some information about their job. If you are interested in finding out more, you will be able to contact them using the email address provided. Below are some questions which may be useful to you during your conversations.

  • What can I do to increase my chances of getting a job in this sector?

  • What sort of characteristics/skills will my employers be looking for?

  • What is the most challenging aspect of the job?

  • What is the best way to get an internship?

  • What do you wish you had known before you started the job?
