BSVR, a school of reference among the Chinese Community
Our International School in Castellón and the Chinese Cultural Association in Castellón have signed a collaboration agreement this year to strengthen ties between the school and the association, with the aim of becoming the school of reference for Chinese citizens living in the region of Castellón.
The purpose of both entities is to carry out initiatives together to raise awareness of Chinese culture and customs among the BSVR educational community and the population of the Castellón region:
On the 16th of February we celebrated Chinese New Year with students and families at British School of Vila-real in a very special event at the school: Chinese New Year Festival.
Students from Year 2 to Year 13 showed their musical and artistic skills while promoting Chinese tradition and culture. The president of the Castellón Chinese Cultural Association, Boyong Dong, and the director of the Valencia Confucius Institute, Vicente Andreu, opened this fantastic festival and wished everyone a Happy Dragon Year!
Likewise, British School of Vila-real and the Chinese Cultural Association of Castellón have already carried out several joint initiatives to raise awareness of Chinese culture and customs among the BSVR educational community and the population of the province of Castellón. For example, on Saturday 10th February, BSVR sponsored the celebration of the Chinese New Year and was present in the Plaza Mayor of Castellón, promoting Chinese culture and tradition through activities and musical performances prepared by its teachers and students. In addition, in December we celebrated the history of the development of the Silk Road. A
All pupils from Year 3 to Year 9 presented their own exhibition on the Silk Road to the president of the Castellón Chinese Association and to the families of the school, who voted for the best presentations. The winning presentations enjoyed a Chinese meal in school, delivered by a local Chinese restaurant. All participants also received a small gift in recognition of their efforts.
Finally, at the school we offer Chinese lessons with the aim of offering Chinese families the opportunity for their children to learn Chinese as a first language at school instead of going to Chinese academies in Valencia. But also, to make the school known among the members of the Chinese Cultural Association of Castellón.
