Year 6 build their own lung model

At Laude The British School of Vila-real (Castellón) learning is a journey of discovery. Last Tuesday, 1st October, Year 6 made their own lung model after researching the different parts that make up the respiratory system.

Building models is an effective way to encourage new ways of exploring science, art, mathematics, and other subject areas. When children become designers and builders, they begin to understand the dynamic manner in which systems operate.

Year 6 students witnessed the process of how the lungs expand and contract with the help of the diaphragm, by building their own lung model out of balloons and plastic bottles. If you pull on the diaphragm, the lung fills with air. Breathtaking work Year 6!
